Old Fashion Cheddar Biscuits

Old Fashion Cheddar Biscuits!! Mom has always delegated the homemade biscuits to the a certain big box of premade stuff with a name resembling biscuits. BUT not today. Today we started with flour, simple by itself flour and added the ingredients ourself. We used the recipe out of Everyday Foods, Martha Stewart's magazine.

Ingredients
Makes about 15
4 cups all-purpose flour, plus more for work surface
2 cups Cheddar cheese
2 tablespoons baking powder
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoons salt
2 tablespoons sugar
1 1/2 sticks unsalted butter, cut into pieces
1 1/2 cups buttermilk

  1. Preheat oven to 450 degrees. In a food processor, pulse flour, baking powder, baking soda, sugar, and salt to combine. Add cold butter and cheese. Pulse until misture is a course meal, with a few pea size pieces of butter remaining. Add buttermilk and then pulse until dough is moistened.
  2. Turn dough into a lightly flour work surface. Knead to combine. Roll with a floured rolling pin to 3/4 inch thickness. Cut with biscuit cutter.
  3. Transfer to baking sheet, 1-1/2 inches apart. Brush top and sides of rounds with melted or spray butter. bake until biscuits are puffed and golden, 12 - 15 minutes. Done.
